"It started with a vision – a fervent desire of our founder, her mother and a district supervisor to help the non-readers in their home province. This desire became a burning passion, two years in the making. The teacher-volunteers had a definite goal in mind – to transform non-readers in VIRAC South District to readers within 15 days!
It was deemed as a major project of the company needed to be accomplished, the result however was beyond what’s expected. It wasn’t simply the completion of a long – overdue assignment. For those involved, it turned out to be one unforgettable summer, with new friends met and new places explored. A worthwhile undertaking which made the teacher-volunteers appreciate more their profession more than ever.
To all our dear donors, sponsors, supporters of this project, the V.I.R.A.C. team is back with the good news that your generosity was not in vain – your act of kindness had touched worthy lives – individuals who had shown so much eagerness to learn, armed with a cheerful attitude and positive disposition as they took advantage of the opportunity presented to them despite glaring limitations.
To all the kid-participants from VIRAC South District whom we had the opportunity to teach – if missing all of you is an indication of how you all have affected us, then we truly are. How we wish we had more time to spend with all of you so we could give more than what we had just offered. All of you are deserving of any extra mile we, teacher-volunteers could ever extend. We pray that you continue to nurture the seed of knowledge and skill that was already planted in you. Your academic growth doesn’t and shouldn’t stop here. Keep going and continue to shine!
Special thanks to the whole family of Virac South District – the principals, heads and teachers under the able leadership and coordination of Mr Elias Abundo and Mr Edgar Rima, former and current public schools district supervisor, respectively – who warmly accommodated and fed us the whole duration of our stay; not to forget our home during the conduct of the project, Virac Central Elem School under the doting guidance of its principal Ma’am Fe Mendoza.
